Bedsheets and carpet fight you the whole way.
In the first weeks after surgery your knee is stiff and sore — and that's exactly when heel slides matter most.
But on a bed or couch, your heel snags and gets stuck. Every rep is annoying and cumbersome.
So you do fewer of them. And the range of motion you fall behind on in early weeks is the hardest of to win back.
Three simple steps to a smoother slide.
Rest your leg on the board
Set your operated leg on the smooth 28"×15" surface, heel down. Light enough to position one-handed.
Let your heel glide
The frictionless MDF lets your heel slide in without snagging — so you can ease into the bend and actually hold the stretch.
Watch your bend grow
Use the printed guide and free measurement tool to see your knee flex a little further every week.
See your knee bend further, week by week.
Recovery feels slow when you can't see it. Every board ships with a printed exercise guide and a QR code to EquipCore's free knee-flexion measurement tool — so Week 1, Week 3, and Week 6 stop being a guess.
Progress you can measure is progress you'll keep showing up for.

"For ten years I watched patients fight for every degree of knee bend after surgery — then go home and do heel slides on a bedsheet that grabbed their heel and made it hurt more. This is the board I wished every one of them had on day one."

It was better and easier to use than the one they use at physical therapy. Excellent!
It works perfectly on my bed and my therapist had recommended I get a board to assist.

Good to know before you start.
What is a heel slide board, and why do I need one after knee replacement?
It's a smooth, low-friction surface (3/16" MDF) that lets your heel glide during heel slides — the #1 exercise prescribed to restore knee flexion after surgery. A dedicated board makes each rep smoother and less painful than fighting your bedsheets or carpet.
How do you do heel slides on it?
Rest your operated leg on the board, then slowly bend your knee and slide your heel toward you until you feel a strong but tolerable stretch. Hold ~5 seconds, slide back out with control. Most PTs prescribe 2–3 sets of 10, three times a day in the first 6 weeks. (Always follow your own surgeon's plan.)
Is it really better than just using bedsheets?
Yes. Sheets and carpet add unpredictable friction that makes every slide jerky and painful — exactly when your knee is most sensitive. The low-friction surface lets your heel glide consistently, so you can focus on the stretch instead of fighting the bed.
Can I use it for a hip replacement or rotator cuff too?
Yes. It works for hip flexion/abduction slides after THR, and as a table slide board for active-assisted shoulder range of motion after rotator cuff repair. Always stay within your surgeon's cleared range.
Don't let stiffness win the early weeks.
The bend you build now is the bend you keep. Make every heel slide count.
